In King County alone, during 2019, over 17,500 people had access to trailheads.
Transit to Trails has implemented a public transit route from Seattle to trailheads within the greater Seattle area. Across the US we are seeing other cities implement a similar system such as, Portland, LA, New York; in addition to New Zealand, Mexico, Australia and others.
Bouldering crash pads are large, and obtrusive which limits how and where they can be used, transported and stored.
Problem
Crash pad, climbing shoes, snacks, extra shoes, sweatshirts, and a bag to carry everything.
Navigating how to get on the bus when carrying gear that is overtly large.
Waiting at a bus stop with all that gear, when utilizing a public transit route.
When on public transportation, finding a space that you and your gear can fit.
Understanding Space
Taking a ride on public transportation gave a better understanding of the space provided for one’s belongings.
